As a high school senior from a black family, I was unsure of what my next steps after graduation would be like. In our community, we do not have many successful black faces to look up to or aspire to be. And growing up, living in Hamden, Connecticut, I found that our relatively diverse town still lacked representation of the minority population. From our public education system to our police department, minorities were few and far between. As a young black man, it became evident that developing strong community ties became a new priority. I've devoted much of my life to public service– spending time in my community, church, and schools as a way to empower and to provide opportunities for others. However, I want to be able to give back more than just time alone.
As I matriculated to Quinnipiac University in 2016, each year I was able to develop a broader lense and perspective about the disproportionalities I grew up around. As a political science major, I decided to focus academically on racial inequalities. My thesis included topics such as mass incarceration, disproportionate ownership, socioeconomic inclusion, social equity in cannabis legalization, minority access to healthcare, and much more. Allowing my life experiences to inspire my learning experiences, I not only developed a sense of purpose, but was able to identify with my roots, our roots. Our roots are not just the percentage we represent in our communities, but it's the percentage we own. Minority ownership cannot reflect only business, but that we must take ownership of and invest into our own community.
This research cultivated a vision of a society where issues of racial inequalities and disproportionate disparities are not only acknowledged, but resolved. Our mission is to gradually turn this vision into a reality. We will continue to be present in our community the same way we always have been, but this time around we have a purpose with greater perspective. We are creating programs and initiatives to promote the awareness and understanding of contemporary issues in the minority community. This includes but is not limited to: social justice impact, black mental health, community engagement, black entrepreneurship, black equity in cannabis, and restorative justice. We are also proud and excited to be giving back 5% of our annual revenue (+1% every two years until we reach 10%) to organizations in Connecticut that are taking ownership and investing into their communities. Keep in mind, an investment is the dedication of an asset to attain an increase in value over a period of time. Investment requires a sacrifice of some present asset, such as time, money, or effort…

We believe our progress can be measured by how we invest in the next generation. We are determined to not only give back to community-focused organizations in Connecticut, but to invest our time and bodies into the same underserved communities we want to see succeed. Community involvement and impact is especially important to us, and we believe the youth may only be a small percentage of leaders today, but they make up 100% of our future leaders.

Sure, we have high standards for all of our drivers, but we have high standards for ourselves, too! This is one of the many perspectives we have when it comes to doing business.
We pride ourselves on using a broad perspective to make ethical choices, make informed business decisions, and define practical solutions. This creates synergy between our operations and the commitment to being socially responsible.
We know that our company's greatness comes from our employees. In the same way that you support us to be our best, we support our employees just the same! From contracted drivers to advisors, we lookout for all of our crew and ensure we learn from one another each day. We encourage our employees to be leaders and allow the opportunity to do so. We do not delegate, we conversate.
Circle of safety is the idea that if every member within an agency feels supported by the person next to them, that our most junior members feel just as protected as our highest leaders. When this circle of safety is established, and every member feels accepted by the people around them, we see an overall increase in success.
Just like our roots, we will continuously scale and grow with every passing day! Our growing roots enable us to increase our reach, and our sustainable approach helps us maintain it. We invest into our operations and operators alike, allowing us to never stop scaling up. We will always be planting seeds and watering our roots, physically and metaphorically.
